The Mind Against Writer’s Block

The people in a poet’s life help to shape the characters in their head,

While the places in their lives build the settings of fiction.

The chapters of their lives show them where they have been lead,

As they forge ahead with their flourishing diction.

Poetry is profound, like a clock out of time,

Because even while slowed by an imagination perturbed,

Its authors will into existence something entirely sublime.

The people in a poet’s life help them make sense of the absurd,

They help fill the page with words,

And subside the writer’s block until it is but an unfrightening ghost.

The places in a poet’s life let loose their caged birds,

While the chapters of their lives help them to avoid the barren coast.
