“E3” 2025

With the Xbox Showcase later this week, I wanted to take some time to share my predictions and wish list! I know Summer Games Fest is this week as well, but I would be keeping you all here for hours on end while I speculate and discuss the possibilities of announcements (Sorry Geoff Keighley)

Xbox as a whole has had a relatively quiet year. Avowed, Doom: The Dark Ages, and South of Midnight were all released to warm receptions, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion got a re-master. That’s about it thus far from Xbox’s in-house developers, with a slew of Third-party games coming to the console over the next few months.

Hopefully, the latter half of this year fills the gap. We have Gears of War: E-Day, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, Perfect Dark, and Ninja Gaiden 4 to look forward to later this year, as well as an extended spotlight on The Outerworlds 2 after Xbox’s showcase. However, we still know little to nothing about Fable, The Elder Scrolls VI, and the DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

I am going to break my predictions into two lists. One will be my realistic expectations for Sunday, while the other will be my pie-in-the-sky wish list!

   Predictions:

  • A new Forza Horizon game. (I am going to make a guess that it will be set in Alberta, Canada, near Calgary)
  • A teaser trailer for a new Halo game. (There are rumors, but I am going to predict it will be a spinoff similar to Halo 3: ODST )
  • Updates on already existing games like the ones I have mentioned above. (I am specifically looking forward to Sea of Thieves news)
  • A few ‘World Premier’ (try saying that without envisioning the guy’s voice) announcements of new franchises from a variety of developers.
  • A revamped teaser trailer for Everwild.
  • Season 3 of Street Fighter 6 (Though, I think we will already know what will be included a day or so prior during Summer Games Fest)
  • Similarly, I think Final Fantasy XVII will be announced during Summer Games Fest, and Xbox will have its own trailer advertising that it will be on their console.
  • Trailers for the Grounded TV show and Season 2 of Fallout.
  • DLC reveals for Avowed, Doom: The Dark Ages, and South of Midnight, alongside what we can expect for the DLC to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
  • Extended looks at Gears of War: E-Day, Ninja Gaiden 4, Fable, and The Elder Scrolls VI.
  • A new Spiro the Dragon game. (Toys for Bob has been teasing something. More on that in a moment.)

Realistically, I think that is about it! I believe Sega, Capcom, and SNK will have a lot of information about their own road maps, but it will be unveiled during Summer Games Fest.

Now for my entirely unreasonable wish list:

  • Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life on Monkey Island. (My hope is that Rare will announce a new set of Tall Tales featuring Jack Sparrow and Guybrush Threepwood. Maybe Jack heard through the grapevine that Captain Pendragon was banished to the Sea of the Damned and returns to the Sea of Thieves to help rescue him—running into Threepwood in the process. I just hope they do not come up with a crossover featuring Peter Pan.)
  • In the same vein, a new Monkey Island game would be really cool. (If it were to come to fruition, it may very well be announced during Summer Game Fest, but I digress)
  • A sequel to the greatest racing game ever made, Split/Second. (I do not care if it is buried in the ground and lost to obscurity. I will continue hoping for a sequel to that game until the day I die!)
  • Banjo-Threeie. (The Toys for Bob tease I mentioned earlier? I hope that is what they are working on. Please, pretty please!)

And there you go! We will find out later this week if I was on to something with my predictions or if I was completely off base. Thanks for your time!
